In my first post this year, I said that I wanted to get more involved within the Tech Bar, with events and the like. I would say that went well, as it was a much more eventful year than I remember last year being. The open house, the Halloween event, Christmas decorating, the Valentine’s baby shower, leap day; We did a lot, and I enjoyed every one of them. We are even doing karaoke, which will be interesting, to say the least. I have built some solid relationships with the people here, which makes it hard to be saying goodbye to most of the team for the next semester. On the flip side, I am excited to essentially be part of the old guard building a new Tech Bar for the future. I do feel that I improved a lot during this year, as I feel very proficient at taking appointments currently. One goal for me is probably to update and add more appointment guides, especially now that there will be new consultants, and I would like to make the onboarding as easy as possible for them. Obviously actual experience is the best way to teach, but more documentation will not hurt.

Overall, I think this academic year was a success, I branched out into my graphic design minor, which I think is definitely more of a passion for me than Computer Science. I love Computer Science as a major, but sometimes I can get a little lost in how mechanical it is, which is strange because computers are literally magic. They are insane, if you just think about it. I was always into design though, just putting effort into making things look good, that is my specific brand of OCD. Things that aren’t designed well irk me, which I believe is a very good and important aspect for a designer.

This semester is also my last one living on campus. I will be commuting from now on, which doesn’t necessarily make me excited, but my roommate will be commuting, and later studying abroad in Australia. I didn’t really find another option for a roommate, and don’t feel like spinning the wheel on it.

The future is an open book, and I am ready to help write it.
