My summer was an interesting one. I never left campus. In fact, I never really left the Tech Bar.
I decided to stay at the Tech Bar this Summer, and I enjoyed a comfortable 9-5, essentially. I helped to organize the studio, which involved moving things around to what I hope is a more efficient studio space. I also created signage for all of the stations in the studio. My biggest project was helping Nick with a program which would scrape the Canvas API for the syllabus files in all of the courses then organize them into google drive folders for easy access. It was a great experience. Outside of work, I had some fun with family, going to Traverse City to see family. I think it was overall a quite productive Summer, and I am glad I was able to work here.
This upcoming semester may be a tough one, and that is mostly because of my Thursday schedule. I have labs from 8 to 2 essentially, no down time, and then work from 2:30 to 6. This is the schedule as of the first week, and there is a possibility that it could change, but I am not banking on it. As I am commuting this semester, it has made a lot of normal aspects of my schedule a little awkward. I have a lot of awkward hour long gaps of time to fill that which , in the past, I would have just went to my dorm real quick to fill the time. I am not really used to just sitting down in random buildings on campus, but I will have to get used to it. At the Tech Bar, my main goal is to help our newcomers become the best consultants they can be, and be in a position to grow. In doing so, I can grow, myself.
